Equipment Needed for Scholarship Players

posted Feb 6, 2011 11:01 PM by Christopher Heath

This year we have several requests for scholarships.  Many of these players are also in need of equipment.  If you have old lacrosse equipment of any kind and would like to make a donation to the club we would be most appreciative.  Please contact Chris Heath at president@oregoncitylax.com.  Thank you!

Coaches Needed for the 2012 Season

posted Dec 19, 2010 6:15 PM by Christopher Heath   [ updated Oct 11, 2011 2:26 PM ]

The Oregon City Youth Lacrosse program is looking for volunteer coaches for the upcoming 2012 season.  No coaching experience is necessary, merely a desire to help out.  If you played or coached lacrosse then great!  This program relies on volunteer coaches to keep lacrosse alive and well in Oregon City.  We need all the help we can get with all levels of play from 1st to 8th grade.  Having coaches that can run a "station drill" is a great help to a head coach, so don't think a lack of experience in the game of lacrosse is a reason not to help.  US Lacrosse offers coaching clinics that we will gladly pay for if you want to learn more about coaching this great sport.  Please contact Chris Heath at coach.chris@oregoncitylax.com if you are interested.

2012 Registration Opened DEC 1st

posted Nov 11, 2010 8:30 PM by Christopher Heath   [ updated Dec 4, 2011 3:47 PM ]

For the 2012 season we will contine to use the same online registration process.  The steps are easy to follow and will ultimately make things easier for everyone.  Our costs from last year remain the same.  This year there will be a MANDATORY  "Preseason Organizational Meeting" on THURSDAY FEB 9th, 2012 (location TBD) for all new and returning players.  This meeting will be an opportunity to get sized for uniforms, and leave with your uniform (heah!). You can also purchase equipment and meet the coaching staff.  Additionally, we want every family to know that you WILL NOT be required to do any fundraising for the program.  If you would like to donate to our "scholarship" program, the registration now has a feature to facilitate a donation for this purpose.  Your fees will cover all expenses associated with your son playing the game of lacrosse for Oregon City.  Thanks for listening and we look forward to the new season!
Registration for the 2012 season opened on DECEMBER 1st! The registration deadline for all grades is February 15th, 2011. After this date there will be a late registration fee of $15.  Practices for all teams will begin the first week of March. To register online, follow the instructions below:
  1. Go to the Registration Site (click here).
  2. Select the "Click here to Login and Register" button.
  3. First time users will be asked to create an account.  Since this is a new registration site all users will be required to create an account.
  4. Follow the steps from there.

SportsStore still OPEN until April

posted Apr 30, 2010 12:08 PM by Yuri Kreutzer   [ updated Feb 13, 2012 10:41 PM by Christopher Heath ]

My SportsStore for Oregon City Youth Lacrosse is still open.  You can now click on the link on our Welcome Page and begin shopping for merchandise.  We opened the store with 4 items to start and depending upon our success we will consider adding other items over time.  The nice part of this new online store is the ease of purchase.  We have partnered with Eastbay Athletics in conjunction with Sports Signup (our registration partner) to include the purchase of items into your registration process.  In the past we only received 20% of the purchase price of the spirit ware you purchased.  This year we will receive a much higher percentage of the profits in the sale of these items.  We set the price and this year you will notice a significant reduction in the price of our spiritware.  We felt that you should be able to purchase a t-shirt at a reasonable price ($11 instead of $20).  We hope that these lower prices will encourage you to shop our store for gifts for your player as well as your other family members.

Required Equipment

posted Jan 26, 2010 6:07 PM by Yuri Kreutzer   [ updated Dec 7, 2010 8:35 PM by Christopher Heath ]

We have been getting a lot of questions about what equipment will be needed for Lacrosse. The following is a list of mandatory equipment for all age groups:

Lacrosse Helmet
Mouth Piece (Cannot be white or clear; we recommend a bright color for ease of locating when dropped)
Shoulder Pads
Arm Pads
Gloves
Shoes which cover the foot (Cleats are optional but recommended)
Crosse (Lacrosse Stick);  we recommend "hard mesh" in the stick you purchase.  DO NOT cut the shaft or buy a "fiddle stick".  Be careful not to accidentally purchase a girls stick.

Bigfoot Lacrosse in Beaverton offers an all inclusive package for $205 to OCYL Players.

Hometown Sports in West Linn offers 20% off all gear to OCYL Players.

This year for the 1st/2nd Grade Level we will have a limited number of equipment packages to rent from OC Youth Lax for the season.  The cost to rent equipment for the season will be $50.  If you are not sure whether your son has his heart set on the game of lacrosse then this might be an option.  The equipment package will include: helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, and gloves.  You will still be required to purchase a stick and mouthguard.

There will be a MANDATORY Preseason Organizational Meeting on February 7th, 2011 at 6:30pm at the Jackson Campus cafeteria.  This meeting will be our "one stop" meeting to get sized for uniforms, meet the coaching staff and listen to a short presentation on the game of lacrosse as well as the goals and mission of the Oregon City Youth Lacrosse Program.  If you are new to lacrosse and want to meet the staff before signing up then you will be able to do so at this meeting.  Those new to the sport of Lacrosse are especially encouraged to attend. OCYL board members and coaches will be on hand to answer your questions about our program and about lacrosse in general. We will also have tables set up for new and used equipment, so bring lacrosse gear you have outgrown to sell or trade. See the attached flier for further details.
