Shooting Page

This page is devoted to shooting technique.  Here are some basic tips on becoming a good fundamental shooter:

1. Hands high and away. Don't throw the stick back into this high and away position.  You should continue to cradle while you cock the trigger. Don't have alligator arms but instead get your elbows high and back (arms too close to your body=aligator arms).
2. Wind your torso to create tension.  It's very similar to the batter in baseball getting ready to swing or a golfer in his backswing.  This is where the power of your shoot comes from.
3. Deliver your hands to your opposite hip with a "push/pull" motion of the hands (put your hands in your opposite pocket).  This memory aid helps you to follow through and finish the shot.
4. You can use the memory aid B-E-E-F. "B" is for Balance, "E" is for Eyes,
"E" is for Elbows and "F" is for Follow-through.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.  Ask for a dozen balls for your birthday and get out there shooting.  If you don't have a net - there is always a net at John McLoughlin Elementary School.  The more you shoot the stronger those shooting muscles get!
